What did we learn from Senator Roger Marshall?

On April 17th, a press release from the office of U.S. Senator Roger Marshall was released on the Kansas Republicans website describing the bombshell report he put together on the origins of COVID-19 as the country's ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security.

Here's what the report revealed about the origins of Covid-19

The report suggested that the global pandemic which shut the world down for more than two years was most likely caused by a Chinese lab leak according to the senator's press release on his report.

Examining two possible origins

The report examined two possible origins—the natural animal transition theory as well as the lab leak theory—and concluded that the pandemic was probably caused by not one but two separate lab leak incidents dating to the fall of 2019.

“A preponderance of evidence"

“A preponderance of evidence in this report suggests there were two separate unintentional lab leaks dating back to the fall of 2019 in Wuhan,” Senator Marshall said.

"A lab-created and altered virus"

Marshall also asserted that there was significant evidence to support the theory that Covid-19 did not evolve naturally but “was a lab-created and altered virus.”

The Muddy Waters Group and Dr. Bob Kadlec

Senator Marshall is a medical doctor and member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. He worked closely with the Muddy Waters Group and Dr. Bob Kadlec, the man responsible for the U.S. COVID-19 vaccine and Operation Warp Speed, to create his 300-plus page report over the course of 18 months.

"It is a bombshell"

“This is big. It is a bombshell that the preponderance of evidence shows that there were two lab leaks," Senator Marshall explained to Fox News host Maria Bartiromo in an April 2023 interview after he published his report.

Most evidence is in favor of a lab leak

"If we had a scale in front of us and we put all the evidence on one side that supports a natural spillover, the other for the lab origin of this, I think that 95% of that evidence is on the lab origin,” the Senator added about the information contained in his report.

Covid first leaked from a lab in September 2019

Senator Marshall told Bartiromo that his report provided enough evidence to suggest that Covid-19 first leaked from a lab in Wuhan sometime around September 2019.

China moved quick to create a vaccine

The leak was unintentional according to the Kansas Senator but it spurred Chinese officials to begin work on a vaccine, which he said turned an endemic situation into a pandemic.

The vaccine development lead to a second leak

“Most likely they were developing this vaccine in a laboratory in the Wuhan University working on primates,” Marshall said before going on to explain the second leak event.

Two theories on the second leak

“We think that's when some type of an aerosol was accidentally released from that laboratory or a lab worker walked out of that with this very, very contagious virus." the Senator added, a theory that fits with recent U.S. intelligence news on Covid’s origins.

Backed up by other evidence?

In February 2023, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray stated that his agency believed Covid-19 “most likely” came from a Chinese government laboratory.

The FBI says Covid was a lab incident

"The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident," Director Wray told Fox News according to the BBC.

The U.S. Energy Department agreed, too

The U.S. Energy Department's also came to a similar conclusion, a fact that was reported by the Wall Street Journal after it obtained a classified report which stated that the department had “low confidence” Covid was caused by natural animal transmission.

China's done nothing to disprove the lab leak theories

“China has had every opportunity to disprove all of the reports surrounding the origins of Covid-19, but they have not and will not,” Marshall said, though the issue is likely to remain hotly contested since the search for the truth has become fiercely politicized.

One step closer to an answer

Whether or not Senator Marshall’s report proved true has still not been seen. But it was another important stepping stone in discovering what caused the pandemic, a discovery that will hopefully help the world stop the next major global medical crisis before it happens.
