Here’s what the former president posted online

On a day the country should have been rallying around the common notions of freedom and democracy, former president Donald Trump was working to undermine unity in the country once again with some bizarre posts to his social media platform Truth Social.

Kicking the day off with a dig

Trump kicked off Independence Day with an early morning, re-truthing a post from a user that consisted of an image overlaid with the words: “81 million votes….. and I’ve never seen a pro-Biden hat, shirt, or flag in my life.”

An image for the ages

The image was capped off with a flag underneath the text that looked similar in style to Trump’s Make America Great Again flags but read “F*** Biden” in oversized letters and continued underneath with the words: "And f*** you for voting for him!”

Trump was very busy on Truth Social

While the nature of the Truth Social post conforms quite well to the message the former president has been relaying to his supporters while out on the campaign trail, this was just the opening salvo in a day that saw several weird and sad posts from Trump online.

Re-truthing memes

Trump re-truthed another photo that showed him in front of a burning White House with the words “Trump was right,” an image of the Hollywood Hills with the words changed to “Trump Won,” and a Simpson’s meme insinuating Joe Biden suffered from dementia.

Reminding America about Biden’s gaffe

The former president reminded his followers about the recent gaffe Biden made about Putin losing the war in Iraq, noting that’s when everybody knew “we have a confirmed, and very dangerous, Idiot in the White House. The USA cannot have this go on!”

Others took some heat too

But it wasn’t just Biden who bore the brunt of Trump's ire. GOP presidential nomination challenger Ron DeSantis re-truthing a post from a user named Catturd revealing poll numbers showing the Republican primary would be a blowout for Trump.

Trump re-truthed all sorts of nonsense

Trump also re-truthed several other posts from Catturd ranging from a message about what electing different kinds of politicians would do to America to a message about Joe Biden hiring 87,000 IRS agents to go after Americans while his son didn’t his pay taxes.

One good post

The former president also posted a short one-minute video of himself speaking over images from a recent rally in Pickens, South Carolina about what the Fourth of July meant, it was the one message where Trump tried to spur a little unity in the country.

Trump as a Revolutionary War general

Later in the day, Trump posted a fictionalized image of himself dressed in the uniform of a Revolutionary War general. It’s too bad the image was posted hours after Trump railed against Jack Smith and the other people working to bring the former president to justice for his alleged crimes.

Biden’s message was completely different

In comparison, Biden’s message to the American people on the Fourth of July was what one would expect from a sitting president that’s been working to heal the nation, it was a message of unity given out to military families on the South Lawn of the White House.

Speaking from the South Lawn

"Today, we celebrate our independence. We celebrate our liberty and our freedom. And Jill and I are honored to spend the day with so many military families," Biden explained according to Newsweek.

A link to the past

"You represent a link in the chain of honor that stretches back to our founding days. You are the sinew, the backbone, the reality of why we're who we are. Unbreaking. Unbending," Biden continued.

Democracy is never, never, never guaranteed

"Throughout our history, you remind us that democracy is never, never, never guaranteed. Every generation must fight to maintain it. We must always cherish it, defend it, and strengthen it," Biden added.

A final message from Biden

Biden shared another message on his Twitter account just before midnight of himself and the First Lady enjoying the fireworks show, celebrating liberty and freedom at what he called “the People’s House” in a message meant to sow unity among all Americans.

Things could get interesting in 2024

Both men revealed something about their leadership styles on Independence Day but it wasn’t anything most Americans didn’t already know. If the 2024 election comes down to Biden and Trump it could be one of the most interesting the country has ever seen.
