Remember when Trump fans started wearing diapers to support the former president?
That's right. Donald Trump's supporters really did start bringing and even wearing diapers in support of the former president way back in May 2024, and there are some fantastic pictures from one event that prove it!
Politics in the United States was already at all-time levels of weirdness but somehow the MAGA crowd found a way to make things even more absurd in a show of support for Donald Trump.
The fact-checking website Snopes looked into the accusation and discovered to almost no one’s surprise that Trump supporters were indeed wearing diapers to his rallies and even taking it all one big step further.

Snopes noted that reports began circulating in April and May of 2024 that supporters of the former president were indeed wearing diaper-themed merch based on social media posts showing some of the insane swag.

In the images, Trump’s biggest political fans can be seen holding signs that read “Real Men Wear Diapers” while other people had on shirts that displayed the words “Diapers Over Dems” at one Trump campaign rally.

“We found some of the clothes they wore for sale, though we weren't able to establish when those designs were posted for purchase — it may have been after the purported trend went viral,” Snopes explained.

The blog Dispatches from Trumpland provided a lot of evidence of this weird trend that has seemingly taken Trump’s most ardent supporters by storm and posted several weird images from a gathering in Pennsylvania.

“After noticing a trend of pro-Donald diaper merch at rallies throughout this year, I hit up President Trump’s latest event in rural Pennsylvania last weekend with the express purpose of seeing if his faithful were still flying their diaper flag,” the blog’s author wrote.
“And let me tell you, it did not disappoint,” Dispatches from Trumpland added. “Not only were there tons of diaper hats, shirts, stickers and actual diapers themselves, but one group had a massive probably six-foot ‘Diaper Don’ Flag that they were waving in line.”
Dispatches from Trumpland went on to admit that some of the awkward diaper-themed merch was actually “pretty cool” but added that the gear wasn’t “sneaker level cool” in a nod to the former president’s ridiculous sneakers he rolled out around that time.
What brought about the growing diaper trend seems to date back to a remark on Twitter from Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen on April 22nd blasting Trump for his attacks against Cohen according to The Independent.
“Hey…your attacks of me stink of desperation. We are all hoping that you take the stand in your defense,” Cohen wrote about Trump, later adding "Keep whining, crying, and violating the gag order you petulant defendant!"
However, whether or not this is where the diaper craze began is up for debate. April 11th saw a post from Dispatches from Trumpland with the diaper gear and Snopes found proof of a man wearing a "Real Men Wear Diapers” T-shirt dating to before March 2nd since that’s when it was published in a report by the Greensboro News & Record
Snopes also found a Twitter post from February from a reporter of the Michigan-based outlet Gongwer News Service that showed a larger group of Trump supporters that had two sporting a “Real Men Wear Diapers” sign.
According to Snopes, it is unclear when or where the Trump diaper meme began to take off in the popular consciousness of MAGA land but it reported the trend could be a nod to the many rumors about Trump’s bad smell and digestive problems.
Internet users in 2019 suggested Trump may have pooped himself in a meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US Representative Adam Kinzinger wrote on Twitter in December 2023 Trump’s Smell was "something to behold".
“I’m genuinely surprised how people close to Trump haven’t talked about the odor,” Kinzinger wrote on December 16th. “It’s truly something to behold. Wear a mask if you can,” he added—these were comments that went viral at the time.
On December 23rd, filmmaker Morgan J. Freeman posted a photo of Trump on his Twitter account and suggested his smell was “because he rarely changes his adult diapers!” So, the current diaper trend may be a response to this comment.
