How often should you actually clean your microwave?

The microwave oven is one of the most used appliances in a home, with the addition that its use involves food. For this reason, keeping it clean is essential for hygiene, prolonging its useful life and, above all, avoiding issues while cooking in it.

If you want to avoid splashes and the interior getting dirty, it is best to use a plastic lid that is not airtight. This simple gesture will prevent a lot of splatter inside the microwave.
There are foods that give off a lot of steam and this stays on the inside of the walls. If this happens, the inside of the microwave should be dried with a cloth after removing the food from it. If you do not do this, certain areas of the device may rust over time.

To clean the microwave, both inside and out, use a soft cloth moistened with water and dish soap. When you're done, leave the door open to dry well.
When cleaning the microwave, you should avoid products such as a scouring pad, scraper or any element that could damage the enamel of the appliance.
If the microwave has a grill, interior cleaning is complicated. However, some devices allow you to remove the grill so that you can clean comfortably. Check the instruction manual before jumping in.
It is recommended that, every time you clean the microwave (once a week), you remove the turntable from inside and put it in the dishwasher or wash it by hand.
Some plates are not dishwasher safe. In this case, with a soft sponge, detergent and hot water you can wash it without problems. Another option is to clean it with a cloth soaked in water and vinegar.
If your microwave has stubborn stains that won't come out, fill a bowl with water, squeeze a lemon into the water, and toss the whole lemon into the bowl. Put the container in the microwave and put it on maximum power for 10 minutes.

When finished, wait 5 minutes and with a cloth, clean the inside of the microwave calmly and easily.

If the microwave smells very bad, mix a little baking soda in hot water and leave the container inside the microwave, with the door closed. Wait five minutes, remove the container and you will see that not only does any food residue is easily removed, with the help of a soft cloth, but that the inside of your microwave smells much better too.
