Marjorie Taylor Greene is eyeing a major career move
Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is looking to make a career move but she isn’t planning on leaving government according to her latest comments.
During an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s ‘Politically Georgia’ published on February 7th, Greene said she was looking to broaden her political horizons.
Greene is considering making a run for the Senate or the Georgia Governorship, though she said she has yet to make a decision about what she will do in the future.
“Of course, I’m considering all possibilities,” Greene stated when asked whether or not she would run against Democratic Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff in 2026.
“No decisions have been made,” Greene continued. “But I would be telling a lie if I didn’t say I wasn’t considering it,” she added, according to a report from The Hill.
Greene went on to say that she would also consider a gubernatorial run and attempt to replace Republican Brian Kemp, who The Hill noted had hit his term limit as Governor.
Georgia Republican, and current Georgia Attorney General, Chris Carr is currently the only candidate who has officially confirmed he is running in the next race for Governor.
Whether or not Greene decides to challenge Ossoff in 2026 may come down to whether or not current Georgia Governor Brian Kemp decides to run against Ossoff.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution noted Republicans are pressuring Kemp to challenge Ossoff, and Greene said she thought the Governor “would be a very solid candidate.”
Several Republican politicians are reportedly interested in challenging Ossoff next year but are waiting to see if the wildly popular Kemp decides he will run against him.
However, it’s also possible that Donald Trump could get involved with the primary, which might give Greene a fighting chance at being the candidate to face off against Ossoff.
In March 2023, Greene spoke at a Trump rally where she said that if Trump wanted her to run for the Senate, she would “fight like h***” for him according to The Hill.
Whatever happens in 2026 in Georgia, it probably won’t be the last we see of Marjorie Taylor Greene since she has become an important staple of the new Republican right.
Jon Ossoff has previously said that if Greene were in the Senate it would be a “disaster” according to The Daily Beast’s reporting.
“You know, Congresswoman Greene represents [an] extremely divisive, zealous, partisan MAGA brand of politics that I think would be an electoral problem for her in Georgia,” Ossoff said during an MSNBC interview in December 2024, The Hill reported.
“But, with the former president’s support in a primary, she may very well be the general election candidate,” Ossoff continued, adding: “Marjorie Taylor Greene in the U.S. Senate would be a disaster for the country.”
