The Chinese have created robots controlled by the mind
It might sound like a science fiction story, but the ability to control a robot with the mind is increasingly gaining ground in the world of technology.
The Chinese are leading the way when it comes to mind-controlled robots. This is unsurprising given that in recent years have the Chinese have made incredible advances in science and technology. Such is the case with the artificial sun the country developed that can create unlimited energy .
According to some revelations reported by the Hong Kong newspaper, South China Morning Post, the Chinese are developing a new control system that could change future space missions forever. Thanks to the help of Artificial Intelligence and brain waves it will be possible to control a robotic arm with the human brain.
Many of the details of this new technology are still top secret, or at least not leaked from the study that appeared in the Chinese scientific journal Control and Measurement of Computers. What is assured is that this new way of operating has a precision never achieved before.

The aim of the Chinese is that the taikonauts, the Chinese astronauts, can move a huge robot arm on the Chinese space station with the utmost precision.
China already has two stations in space, Tiangong-1 and Tiangong-2. The country is currently working on an even larger third multi-module station, on which the gigantic arm will be installed.

But let's try to understand how this new and formidable control system works. In order for the technology to work, a device is connected to the operator's head who will only have to concentrate on the part of the robot arm that he wants to move so that he carries out the order received.

The different parts that make up the robot arm will light up intermittently until they are chosen by the operator. The neuronal impulses will be encoded by the device and so will the translation from mind to object, in this case a robotic arm.

What makes this a reality and not just science fiction are the waves that the brain sends to the screen. However, since these are too weak to do all the work on their own, they are helped by Artificial Intelligence.

It is a device that tries to interpret the intentions of the operator so that the arm can perform what is required.

The tests carried out on this new technology are truly amazing. In fact, we are talking about an efficacy and precision equal to 99%. Just think that the technologies based on control systems developed today have an accuracy ranging from 40 to 80%.

A question that may arise spontaneously concerns the reasons that may have prompted Chinese researchers to this incredible innovation. Here is the answer: weightlessness.

Space, as we know, is an environment without gravity and the only way for astronauts to control some systems on board is through the use of joysticks and keyboards, with the consequent difficulties due to zero gravity.

According to Wang Congqing, inventor of the technology: "In future space missions, machines and humans will work together, and keyboards, mice or joysticks will no longer be needed, but only the mind and eyes".

But this is not only applicable to space. The technology based on "power of thought" could also be extended to other sectors, such as factories.

In a work environment where close contact between man and machine is constant, taking advantage of a control system based on telekinesis could revolutionize the way of working, making processes in assembly lines much faster and more fluid.

At the moment this revolutionary control system is still in the testing phase. We just have to wait for any developments and see if cosmonauts can really benefit from them.
