The White House ‘Diet Coke button’ makes a comeback alongside Trump
The White House Oval Office will once again feature the famous ‘Diet Coke button’ that Donald Trump used to summon sodas during his first term.
The little red button, hidden inside a wooden box, was spotted on Trump’s desk after his inauguration ceremony on January 20, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The button had been removed from the Oval Office in 2021 by former President Joe Biden, according to the WSJ report.
The peculiar appearance of the Diet Coke button, whose purpose is not obvious at first glance, has actually made White House visitors think it was a nuclear button, according to Trump.

“Everyone does get a little nervous when I press that button,” Trump told the Financial Times in 2017. And he sometimes took advantage of this to prank visitors, according to former White House aide Chris Sims.
In his book ‘Team of Vipers,’ Sims revealed that Trump liked to press the button in front of visitors without saying a word just to have a coke delivered minutes later and have “the room erupt in laughter,” he recalled.
When pressed, the mysterious-looking red button alerts a White House butler that Trump’s drink of choice is needed ASAP in the Oval Office.
Trump’s love for Diet Coke is no secret. According to a 2018 report by The New York Times, Trump drinks up to 12 cans of this soda every day.
Coca-Cola’s CEO even presented a limited edition Diet Coke bottle, bearing Trump’s name and the date January 20th, 2025, to celebrate his second term in the White House, ‘Fortune’ reported.

Although Trump is hardly the first US president to have received a commemorative special edition bottle by Coca-cola, he’s possibly the one who loves and consumes its products the most.
