Trump has a lot of worrying things planned if he wins the election

Donald Trump has talked a lot about the terrible things that he wants to do if reelected in November. Most of these promises have come off as either excessively vindictive or just plain awful. Let’s look at some of the worst possibilities. 

Trump’s enemies will need to start looking over their shoulders if the former president is swept back into office since he’s suggested on more than one occasion he may use the Justice Department to go after those who wronged him.

For example, while speaking with Unvision’s Enrique Acevedo, Trump talked about how the Justice Department was being weaponized against him. When Acevedo asked if Trump would do the same if reelected, Trump said yes. 

“They’ve already done it, but if they want to follow through on this, yeah it could certainly happen in reverse,” Trump explained to Acevedo. “They’ve released the genie out of the box.” It was a statement that really set off the news media. 

Immigrants will have a harder time in the United States under the former president since he is planning to round up, detain, and deport all undocumented workers in the country according to a November report from the New York Times. 

Trump’s plans would bring a return of the former president’s first-term border policies as well as the ban that prevented individuals from some Muslim countries from entering the United States. Trump has alluded to some of his future plans. 

For example, on March 4th, Trump was asked by Newsmax’s Chris Salcedo if he would order mass deportations if he won the White House. Trump replied by saying: “Oh, day one. We have no choice. And we’ll start with the bad ones.”

In September, Trump said that he would divert resources from federal law enforcement and send thousands of troops based overseas to the country’s border with Mexico while speaking to his supporters in Iowa according to Reuters. 

"Upon my inauguration, I will immediately terminate every open borders policy of the Biden administration,” Trump said. “I'll make clear that we must use any and all resources needed to stop the invasion, including moving thousands of troops currently stationed overseas."

The former president privately supports a 16-week abortion ban with an exception of three weeks for women who have been assaulted or in cases of incest or the need to save the mothers according to two sources that spoke with the New York Times. 

Trump is planning new tariffs for his second term. The former president floated the idea of a baseline tariff on foreign companies operating in the United States while speaking to Fox Business host Larry Kudlow. 

“When companies come in and they dump their products in the United States, they should pay, automatically, let’s say a 10 percent tax … I do like the 10 percent for everybody,” Trump explained to Kudlow. 

Trump is likely going to ignore the looming climate crisis and reinvest into fossil fuels, something the former president has made clear on several occasions while speaking at his campaign rallies to win the Republican primary. 

“Remember this, gasoline, fuel, oil, natural gas went up to a level that it was impossible. … That’s what caused inflation, and we’re going to bring it down because we’re going to go drill, baby, drill. We drill, baby, drill. We’re bringing it way down,” Trump said at a Las Vegas campaign rally in January according to the Washington Post. 

The American education system might get a major overhaul. Trump promised he would “end education coming out of Washington” in a September campaign video. “We’re going to close it up…We’re going to send it all back to the states.”

January 6th rioters are likely to get a pardon from the former president. In May, Trump said he was "I am inclined to pardon many of them” while speaking at a town hall event in New Hampshire according to CBS News.
