Trump posted another really weird message on Truth Social
On September 20th, Donald Trump published a new outlandish all-caps message on his social media website in which he vowed to keep women safe when he was re-elected in November, but the post may have done more harm than good.
Before we dive into what the former president wrote, it’s important to remember that the entire message he posted was published in all caps. We’ll spare you from the mess that was Trump’s ugly digital shouting, but keep the imagery in mind.

Trump kicked off his message by writing: “Women are poorer than they were four years ago, less healthy than they were four years ago, less safe on the streets than they were four years ago.” However, that wasn’t the end of his rant on women.
The former president added that women “are more depressed and less happy than they were four years ago” and that they were “less optimistic and confident in the future than they were four years ago!” Trump provided no proof for his claims.
“I will fix all of that,” Trump continued, and please remember that his message is still in all caps. “At long last the national nightmare will be over. Women will be happy, healthy, confident, and free,” Trump added, but he immediately made a mistake.
The rest of the former president’s message went on to talk about the one thing that can cripple his campaign with female voters—abortion. Trump's history on the issue is a big problem for the former president and polls show women aren’t happy.
August 2024 polling from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that as many as 74% of women between the ages of 18 to 49 did not want abortion left to the states while a poll from Gallup News found a third of the electorate will only vote in line with their views.
“A record-high 32% of U.S. voters say they would only vote for a candidate for major office who shares their views on abortion,” explained Megan Brenan And Lydia Saad of Gallup News in a June 2024 post on the organization's poll findings.
Abortion is a very polarizing issue in the United States, and Trump’s flip-flopping on his policy beliefs may be why he decided to spend a little time focusing on the issue in his Truth Social post. But of course, he went about it in an awful way.
After he finished explaining that he would solve all the problems facing women in the United States, Trump tossed in this message to women: “You will no longer be thinking about abortion, because it is now where it has to be, with the states.”
Unfortunately for Trump, his message that abortion is where it needs to be may not be received well by the 74% of women in the core voting demographic range that he needs to win over if he wants to beat Vice President Kamala Harris in November.
The former president did add that there were “powerful exceptions” added to abortion law in the United States, and he even invoked the power of Republican icon Ronald Reagon, noting that the exceptions were those that Reagan “insisted on.”
Trump continued by noting that Reagan would not have allowed Democrats to demand “late term abortions in the 7th, 8th, or 9th month, or even after execution,” which were claimed that the former president didn’t provide any proof to prove in his post.
“I will protect women at a level never seen before,” Trump concluded. “They will finally be healthy, hopeful, safe, and secure. Their lives will be happy, beautiful, and great again.”
Trump may have been trying to play to the other side of the abortion debate with his nod to Reagan. The former president’s stance on abortion has not only hurt Trump among the country's pro-choice voters, but also its pro-life voters according to BBC News.
In a September 14th report, BBC News noted that anti-abortion activist and pro-life Live Action founder Lila Rose has urged Republicans not to vote for the former president and has criticized Trump’s more friendly public strategy on abortion in America.

In May 2024, Pew Research reported that six in ten Americans, or 63%, believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases. On September 21st, Trump repeated his online vow to America’s women word-for-word while speaking at a campaign rally in North Carolina.
