Why is he mad this time?

Donald Trump doesn’t like it when things don't go his way, and he made this clear again on August 19th when he took to Truth Social to attack Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly turning down his offer to debate her on Fox News.

Attack Harris on Truth Social

Trump kicked off his diatribe against Harris by writing, “Comrade Kamala Harris has just informed us that she will NOT do the FoxNews Debate on September 4th,” however the former president didn’t stop there and launched into an attack.

Trump said he wasn’t surprised

The former president explained he was “not surprised by this development” because he thought the Vice President knew that it would be difficult “at best” for her to “defend her record setting Flip-Flopping on absolutely anything she once believed in.”

"HORRIBLE performance on the Border”

Trump specifically pointed out Harris had flip-flopped on her previous position in favor of banning fracking in Pennsylvania—which is a key swing state Harris will need to win, and her “HORRIBLE performance on the Border.”

Kamala Harris Border Czar

“Our ‘Border Czar,’ where millions of criminals and people from mental institutions and terrorists, have been allowed to pour into our Country, totally unchecked and unvetted. “It’s called, and she LOVES IT, an OPEN BORDER!!!” Trump wrote.

Helpful information

While the former president’s message might not have made a lot of grammatical sense, he did provide the world with some helpful information in his missage. He revealed that even if Harris wouldn’t debate him on September 4th, he would still attend the event.

Trump will still go live

"Rather than the debate on September 4th, I have agreed to do a Tele-Town Hall, anchored by Sean Hannity, for Fox. It will take place in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - Details to follow!" Trump concluded.

Not confirmed by Harris

Whether or not the Vice President or her campaign confirmed that they were not Harris was going to attend a Fox News-hosted debate night against Trump is still unclear, she nor her campaign have confirmed Trump’s statement. But it shouldn’t matter.

A debate that never was

The September 4th debate between Trump and Harris hosted by Fox News was never originally in the cards according to The New Republic. Trump tossed the option out into the world back when he had yet to confirm he would keep the original debate schedule.

Trump vs. Biden on the debate stage

Trump and Joe Biden originally worked out a two-debate schedule for themselves on June 27th and September 10th that both men agreed to before Biden ended up withdrawing from the race after his terrible performance during his first debate with Trump.

The second debate was unclear

It was unclear after Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee if Trump would debate her on September 10th at an event that was set to be hosted by ABC News. But he later agreed to the debate and offered up even more opportunities to Harris to debate him.

The presidential debate cycle

“Traditionally, a presidential cycle has two debates between the presidential candidates, as well as one debate between the potential vice presidents,” The New Republic’s Ellie Quinlan Houghtaling explained.

More debates before November

“But during a short-notice press conference at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month, Trump spontaneously announced that he was willing to face off against Harris three times before November,” Quinlan Houghtaling continued.

Trump’s proposed debates

Trump wanted to debate Harris on September 4th in a debate that would be hosted by Fox News, and on September 25th in a debate that would be hosted by NBC News. Both debates were in addition to the September 10th event hosted by ABC News.

Everything is unclear

“Harris’s camp had not initially signed on to the Fox debate, and it’s currently unclear whether she’s actually rejected the date outright, as Trump suggested. The first official debate is scheduled for September 10,” Quinlan Houghtaling noted.

“The drama of it all”

“The drama of it all may be an aggressive strategy for Trump to reframe himself as unafraid to show down against the famed prosecutor after he stunningly disappointed some of his fans by backing out of one of the debates earlier this month,” Quinlan Houghtaling added.

Trump’s fans and supporters were so upset with his decision that they went as far as to get the very unappealing hashtag #TrumpIsACoward trending on Truth Social after the news broke that he had backed out of a debate.

What we know from the Harris campaign

According to The Hill, the Harris campaign has said that the Vice President’s campaign would participate in a total of three debates this election, including two presidential debates as well as a vice presidential debate. But there were some conditions.

“Assuming Donald Trump actually shows up..."

“Assuming Donald Trump actually shows up on September 10 to debate Vice President Harris, then Governor Walz will see JD Vance on October 1 and the American people will have another opportunity to see the vice president and Donald Trump on the debate stage in October,” Michael Tyler, the communications director for the Harris campaign explained in a statement.
