A threat against Germany

The President of the Russian Republic of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, suggested, in state television, that the Russian army should invade “East Germany”: a territory of the former GDR (German Democratic Republic).

"Our Territory"

"We have to return, it is our territory," Kadyrov said, alluding to the Soviet occupation after World War II and the subsequent creation of East Germany under the socialist orbit.

“Scholz should be punched in the face”

Furthermore, he threatened German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. “Scholz should be punched in the face,” Kadyrov said. The reason for the verbal attack could be the deliveries of main battle tanks to Ukraine announced by Germany.

Return to the GDR?

Kadyrov exposed to the Russian public the old expansionist dream of returning to the times of the Soviet Union, with half of Europe under the Warsaw Pact and the German Democratic Republic at Moscow’s command.

Putin also pointed to Germany

When Germany announced that it was clearing the way for tank shipments to Ukraine, Putin also wanted to convey a perhaps less threatening but disturbing message: He noted that it was the first time since World War II that German tanks would fire on Russian soldiers.

Was it a mistake that the USSR let the GDR go?

According to ZDFheut, in the interview with Kadyrov on Russian state television, the Chechen leader not only expressed this threat of invasion against Germany but also criticized the 1990 withdrawal of Soviet troops from the GDR.

The "traitor" Gorbachev

Kadyrov added that it would have been necessary to punish those responsible for this withdrawal, beginning with then president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. He described him and the rest of the leaders as "traitors."

Germany's place in the world

Kadyrov, in his rude, defiant and aggressive language (even by the standards of Russian propaganda) implied that Germany had to be put in its place in order for it to understand the true hierarchy of the world's nations.

Kadyrov against NATO

Nothing stops Kadyrov. Neither the possibility of nuclear war nor the force of NATO: "We will defeat and destroy them."

“We will break through and conquer Poland”

He also stressed that it would be wrong to negotiate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “We are showing results that the West, the NATO countries and the EU cannot even dream of,” said Kadyrov. And he promised his followers: “We will break through and conquer Poland.”

He called on Putin to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine

In October 2022, after the defeat at Lyman (in Donetsk Oblast), Kadyrov called on Putin to use nuclear weapons in the Ukrainian war, as reported by Reuters.

Drastic measures

"More drastic measures must be taken, including the imposition of martial law in the border areas and the use of low-yield nuclear weapons," said Kadyrov then.

To victory

Russia, after nearly a year of brutal war in Ukraine, has suffered multiple defeats and failed to achieve its goals, but Kadyrov is confident that the war will be won by the end of this year. He also believes that the Kremlin can conquer major cities like Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odessa.

Zelensky's request to Kadyrov

According to ZDF, Zelenski asked the Chechen leader to “eliminate himself with a weapon” because he had only brought suffering and death to his people.

Chechnya, from enemy to faithful ally

Chechnya is a republic of Russia with about one and a half million inhabitants. It was the scene of a bloody war in which the Russian troops lost many soldiers and applied a brutal policy. Now, once the territory has been pacified, Kadyrov rules autocratically and is a faithful ally of the Kremlin.

Kadyrov's father was also a leader

Kadyrov's father became president of Chechnya about ten years ago, with the support of Vladimir Putin. After the assassination of Kadyrov Sr., his son Ramzan Kadyrov came to power.

Brotherhood between Chechnya and Russia

Chechen and Russian flags can be seen in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, where one of the main streets is named after Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Colonel General Kadyrov

In October 2022, Putin promoted Kadyrov to colonel general of the Russian National Guard.

A ruler of totalitarian ways

Human rights activists claim that Kadyrov deserves the title of dictator. He eliminated all political opposition in his country, through physical disappearance or exile, according to several NGOs.

He sent his own troops to Ukraine

Moreover, he has become one of the most ardent supporters of the war and has sent his own troops to Ukraine.
