Could Donald Trump win by a landslide?
As America prepares for the last leg of the presidential election, Democratic VP Kamala Harris and Republican former US President Donald Trump are fighting tooth and nail to get any vote possible.
Despite the effort and intense campaigning by both candidates, Trump and Harris remain virtually tied, with only a few points of difference that could define the future of the United States and the rest of the free world.
Newsweek writes that even though Harris remains 2 to 3 points above Trump and still keeps an edge in swing states, recent polls are favoring the New York mogul.
Meanwhile, pollster Nate Silver shows that, except for Georgia, the Republican Party has been gaining momentum in swing states.
Meanwhile, Forbes highlights that the New York mogul has become the favorite of bookkeepers, with betting houses predicting a swift victory for the Republican candidate.
Political news website The Hill published an opinion piece by Douglas MacKinnon arguing that a “scared majority” could deliver Trump a landslide victory, causing a major upset for the Democrats.
This “scared majority” would be proof of the disconnect of the liberal Democratic elite, which most mainstream US media is aligned to, with the American working class.
However, as Newsweek points out, there’s no precise concept of a landslide, but everyone means that part of it is surpassing the expected electoral results.
Once again, this US election will probably be defined by whoever wins the swing states. If Trump manages to get a victory in most of them, and that’s a big “if”, then it would be a major Republican landslide.
The Hill writes that early votes in battleground states show that the former Republican President has a slight edge over Biden’s VP, showing that Trump’s strategy seems to be paying off.
Could these polls be the canary in the mine for the Harris campaign? We will find out on November 5th.
