Will Marjorie Taylor Greene be the next Vice President of America?
The 2024 Presidential elections will be an exciting race without a doubt, particularly if Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene decides to put her hat into the ring and run for Vice President.
Despite all his legal troubles, Donald Trump announced in November 2022 that he would be running for president of the United States once again in 2024. Following Trump's big announcement, there has been plenty of speculation on who he will choose as his running mate.
As reported by NBC News, two individuals who have discussed her aspirations with her have said that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is positioning herself as a potential running mate for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
Steve Bannon, the former top Trump aide who features Greene as a guest on his 'Bannon's War Room' podcast, stated that Greene is an ambitious and confident figure who sees herself as a potential president and is therefore not shy about pursuing this opportunity. Bannon suggested that Greene is on the shortlist for Trump's VP pick.
After former vice president Mike Pence refused to overturn Trump's loss at the polls in 2020, Donald Trump has been on the hunt for a new running mate. Many agree that among the top contenders is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Marjorie Taylor Greene has become one of the far-rights most high-profile figures in the U.S. despite being the first elected member of Congress to support QAnon and being stripped of all her committee assignments in February 2021.
Greene is a loud and proud Trump supporter, frequently appearing at Trump rallies, so it isn't surprising that she says she has already discussed the possibility of being Donald's running mate in 2024.
During an interview with 'Real America's Voice,' controversial Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said she "would be honored" if former President Donald Trump asked her to be his running mate in 2024.
PatriotTakes posted the interview on Twitter on July 30, 2022 and wrote that the interview took place during Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit, a conservative conference held in Florida recently.
A Real America's Voice reporter said to Greene, "I hear the words MTG mentioned a lot as somebody who'd be a great running mate for Donald Trump. I just wonder what you do with that," referring to the lawmaker's initials.
Ms. Greene responded, "I think if he asked me I would definitely give that some strong consideration."
"I love President Trump, I never hide that fact. I think he's wonderful, I have a great relationship with him, I talk to him frequently."
Marjorie then continued gushing, "I'm so thankful for him and his family, as we all are, and I defend him all the time."
"I swear I would fight for that man because he fought for us, and that's the kind of president we need back, and if he were to ask me of course, I would be honored."
Trump has not made any indication of who his potential running-mate would be in the 2024 election. Undoubtedly Marjorie hopes her remarks will put her in the running.
According to a piece by Fox News in March 2023, Trump has already talked through some possible candidates with his closest confidants.
According to Fox, Trump has indicated in these conversations that he is interested in choosing a female running mate this time, which, if true, might mean MTG actually has a genuine shot at becoming VP.
In an excerpt from New York Times reporter Robert Draper's book, "Weapons of Mass Delusion: When the Republican Party Lost Its Mind," published in the New York Times Magazine, MTG spoke about her thoughts on running in 2024 with Trump.
Marjorie Taylor Greene told Draper that it would be a great honor for her to run alongside her idol Donald Trump. However, Greene did mention that she would understand if she was too controversial. "I think the last person that the RNC or the national party wants is me as his running mate."
Seeing Marjorie Taylor Greene as "too controversial" is understandable, especially when Trump himself is so polarizing. MTG often finds herself in hot water. For example, over the summer she a speaker at Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit. She got into trouble when she said that Republicans should embrace being "Christian nationalists."
Greene said, "That's not a bad word. That's actually a good thing. There's nothing wrong with leading with your faith..."
Marjorie went on to say, "If we do not live our lives and vote like we are nationalists—caring about our country, and putting our country first and wanting that to be the focus of our federal government—if we do not lead that way, then we will not be able to fix it."
Greene faced heavy criticism for her speech, with some calling her a "Nazi." However, Marjorie then spoke to Newsweek to defend her statement saying, "I am being attacked by the godless left because I said I'm a proud Christian Nationalist."
MTG then said, "These evil people are even calling me a Nazi because I proudly love my country and my God."
Marjorie concluded, "The left has shown us exactly who they are. They hate America, they hate God, and they hate us."
Despite her confidence in her right to express herself and be a "Christian Nationalist," Newsweek reported that more than 10,000 Christians signed a petition condemning Greene's remarks following her speech.
