What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is an emotional state, generally of both physical and psychological tension, linked to fears or a fear of the external environment. It should be noted that anxiety is a 'normal' and common state, the main objective of which is to allow us to understand and overcome certain obstacles.

Zung's Anxiety Test

The problem arises when anxiety becomes pathological and stops the person suffering from living a normal life. In this gallery, we offer you the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, developed by William W. K. Zung M.D, a doctor and psychiatrist in the 70s, which will help you determine your anxiety level. Before you start, get a pen and paper and write down your answers.

If most of the answers you gave are a) and b), according to Zung's test, your anxiety level is 'low'. Therefore the level of anxiety your feel is entirely normal. Consequently, you do not suffer from not pathological anxiety, and it is unnecessary to intervene clinically. Regardless, we are not mental health experts so, do not hesitate to contact a medical professional if you are worried about your anxiety levels!!

If, on the other hand, you answered c) several times, according to Zung's test, your anxiety level is 'moderate'. In this case, you should contact a specialist to help you reduce your anxiety levels.

Result: majority of answers were d)

Finally, in case you answered 'd' most of the time, according to Zung's test your anxiety level is 'high'. Anxiety is a real problem in your daily life, it would therefore be necessary and advisable to seek out a professional who can help you fight it clinically.
