Lauren Boebert calls Marjorie Taylor Greene 'unhinged,' deepening feud
Colorado Republican and vaunted MAGA darling Lauren Boebert has deepened her feud with Trump champion Marjorie Taylor Greene after calling the Georgia congresswoman "unhinged" in recent comments.
"I have been asked to explain MTG's beliefs on Jewish space lasers, on why she showed up to a white supremacist conference. ... I'm just not going to go there," Boebert told the Associated Press' Jesse Bedayn.
"She wants to say all these things and seem unhinged on Twitter, so be it," the Colorado congresswoman added.
Marjorie Taylor Greene has yet to respond to Boebert's comments but the slamming comes just weeks after a previous spat that saw the two at each other's throats.
The former best friends reportedly turned on each other after Boebert was caught mocking Greene’s far-right conspiracy beliefs in December.
The one-time allies were thick as thieves during Donald Trump’s presidency and infamously joined forces during Joe Biden’s first State of the Union speech to heckle the new president as he spoke about many of America’s most critical issues.
The pair traded insults on December 19th as each voiced their opinions over the future of the role of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Republicans narrowly recaptured the House after a very disappointing November election that saw what many believe to be the downfall of former president Trump’s influence over national politics.
During a Turning Point USA event, Boebert was asked if she shares Greene’s view that current House minority leader Kevin McCarthy should become the new Speaker of the House.
Boebert responded by distancing herself from Greene and her conspiracy theories, saying she’s often falsely “accused” of sharing the same views as her former ally and then mocked Greene’s antisemitic belief in the “Jewish space laser” conspiracy.
“Well, you know, I’ve been aligned with Marjorie and I’ve been accused of believing in a lot of things that she believes in,” Boebert said.
“I don’t believe in this just like I don’t believe in Russian space lasers – Jewish space lasers – and all this,” Boebert added.
Back in January of 2021, Greene blamed California's 2018 wildfires on the absurd idea of a secret Jewish-controlled space laser rather than the more probable climate change and lack of proper forest management.
Greene is no stranger to weird conspiracy and she is a well-known QAnon backer who believes Donald Trump has been secretly fighting a worldwide child slavery ring that will eventually lead to the arrest of many major global political figures.
Greene also believes that Muslims don’t belong in government, 9/11 was an inside job, the shootings at Sandy Hook were staged, and that Zionist supremacists are secretly masterminding a mass Muslim immigration scheme to depopulate Europe of its white people according to Intelligencer reporter Jonathan Chait.
In response to Boebert’s comments, Greene took to Twitter and slammed Boebert for taking endorsements from MAGA Republicans and then refusing to support them when it didn’t suit her political needs.
“I’ve supported and donated to Lauren Boebert,” Greene tweeted, “President Trump has supported and donated to Lauren Boebert. Kevin McCarthy has supported and donated to Lauren Boebert. She just barely came through by 500 votes.”
“She gladly takes our $$$, but when she’s been asked: Lauren refuses to endorse President Trump, she refuses to support Kevin McCarthy, and she childishly threw me under the bus for a cheap sound bite,” Greene continued.
“The country is facing extremely difficult times,” the Georgia congresswoman added, “Americans expect conservative fighters like us to work together to Save America and that is the only mission I’m 100% devoted to, not high school drama and media sound bites.”
