An odd interview showcases Marjorie Taylor Greene's fixation on Trump
Marjorie Taylor Greene's longstanding fascination with Donald Trump took a noticeable turn in a recent interview, where she faced criticism from a news outlet for excessively praising the former president.
Political Fire reported Greene fawned over the former president following a speech in which Trump said hello to the Georgia congresswoman, and she was so thrilled about it that she took to the media to sing the former president’s praises on live TV.
Greene spoke with CNN’s Lauren Fox about the former president’s visit to Capitol Hill on June 13th, and about the speech he gave while there in which he looked at Greene and jokingly asked her to be nice to House Speaker Mike Johnson.
“I really found his speech to be one of my favorite speeches,” Greene explained as she went through how Trump came in and talked to the conference, being honest and funny about the problems facing the Republicans.
Trump was apparently joking around with everyone according to Greene but what she was really excited about while speaking with CNN was the fact that the former president took the time to say hello to her in his speech and give her a little warning.
“He was really sweet to me. He.. he said to Speaker Johnson: ‘Okay, you’ve got to be tougher… uh he saw me, I was sitting back a little ways. He saw me there and was like: ‘Hello Marjorie’,” Greene explained with a smile.
“He’s always so sweet, and recognizes me,” said Greene with stars in her eyes and a goofy smile. “He said, ‘Are you being nice?’ He was joking. ‘Are you being nice to Speaker Johnson?'” the Georgia Congresswoman added.
Greene went on to say that she answered the former president with an “ehhh” and then he said: “Okay, be nice to him.” Greene told CNN she nodded in agreement but Political Fire’s Megan Hamilton wrote it wasn’t much of a speech to call one’s favorite.
The roughly 40-second clip of Greene fawning over the former president received a lot of criticism online after it was posted to X by user Acyn, the Senior Digital Editor for MeidasTouch.com, and a frequent poster of political videos.

One user replied to Acyn’s post by writing Greene “acting like a 13 yr old talking about the boy she likes” while another user wrote: “It is a cult. She's so excited the cult leader said hello to her.” However, Political Flare might have had the most worrying comment.
“Trump turned America into an embarrassment on the world stage, and with Marjorie Taylor Greene in tow, it looks like it’s going to stay that way for a while,” Megan Hamilton wrote—and whether or not you agree—the 2024 race has the potential to become quite embarrassing for Americans.
Trump’s visit to Capitol Hill, and subsequent speech in front of Republican lawmakers, was the first time that the former president had been back on the Capitol campus area since the January 6th Capitol Attack according to CNN.
The former president allegedly ranted and rambled about Taylor Swift, questioning why she would endorse the “dope” Joe Biden while speaking to Republicans in a closed-door meeting. “He doesn’t know how to get off a stage," Trump added
Trump also attacked former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in his speech to Republican lawmakers, calling Pelosi a “wacko,” before he went on to warn them not to be afraid of the abortion issue.
“He talked and pushed for exceptions for assault, life of the mother and incest. He talked about the way that we need to talk about it, quote correctly, his words, not mine,” Republican Representative Nancy Mace told CNN.
Trump also called the Department of Justice “dirty no good bas****s,” according to one source in the room who spoke with CNN. “He expressed frustration over the recent trial, you can imagine, and justifiably in my view,” Senator John Cornyn of Texas said.
