Kremlin is offended after Biden insults Putin
Even though the Russian President recently told the world that he thought Joe Biden was the best choice in the upcoming US presidential elections, the President of the United States has no kind words for Putin.
According to The Guardian, during a fundraiser in San Francisco recently, Biden publicly referred to Vladimir Putin as a "crazy S O B."
At the fundraiser the American President was discussing the climate crisis and said, “We have a crazy S O B like Putin and others, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate.”
Naturally, the Kremlin was less than impressed by Joe Biden's insult to the Russian leader. Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Kremlin said in response, “The use of such language against the head of another state by the president of the United States is unlikely to infringe on our president, President Putin. But it debases those who use such vocabulary.”
Dmitry Peskov went on to add that he thinks Biden was just trying to show-off so to speak, saying Biden's comments were “probably some kind of attempt to look like a Hollywood cowboy.”
As The Guardian points out, this is hardly the first time that Joe Biden has insulted Vladimir Putin. In the past he has called the Russian President a thug, war criminal, butcher, and killer.
Perhaps in addition to all the atrocities that Putin has committed in Ukraine, Biden is annoyed at Putin for "endorsing" him in recent comments about who he thought would be the best leader of America. Undoubtedly, the incident did little to help Biden in his campaign.
Sometimes, it seems like we know exactly what is going to come out of Russian President Vladimir Putin's mouth, and we feel like we can predict what he will say next. However, recently, Putin surprised the world with his thoughts on who he thinks would be the best American President.
On February 14, pro-Kremlin journalist Pavel Zarubin interviewed Vladimir Putin on camera. Zuribin asked the Russian President who he wanted to see win the 2024 American presidential elections, and his answer was shocking.
As reported by Politico, Putin answered: "[Biden] is a more experienced, predictable person. He is a politician of the old school." This is an unexpected endorsement given the tremendous support Joe Biden has given Ukraine. Click on to read more about Putin's interview where he expressed his thoughts on the US elections.
It is also astonishing that Putin would support Biden over Donald Trump, given the close relationship the two had when Trump was President of the United States.
Furthermore, Trump recently got himself into hot water when he said he would "encourage" Russia to do "whatever the h*** they want" to those NATO allies who are not spending the stipulated amount on defence, as reported by CNN.
Not only did Vladimir Putin say he'd prefer Biden to win over Trump during the interview, but he also took the opportunity to defend Joe Biden's cognitive abilities, which as of late have been very much in question due to a series of verbal blunders and a damaging "report" on his cognitive health.
Putin recalled meeting Biden in June of 2021 in Switzerland, prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, saying, "When I met with Biden in Switzerland — it was, indeed, a few years ago, three years — even then there were talks about him being incompetent. I saw nothing of the sort."
Putin continued, "Yes, he glanced at his notes. Honestly, I glanced at mine too. There's nothing to it." Putin, who is 71, perhaps feels for Biden when it comes to ageism discrimination, some of which he himself has experienced in the press.
However, in his interview regarding his thoughts on the American Presidential candidates, Putin went on to say, "But we will work with any leader of the United States who is trusted by the American people."
We can't help but think that Putin must truly see Donald Trump as a loose cannon, and that is why he is "endorsing" Joe Biden.
After all, the Russian leader is clearly not pleased with all the aid that the US has given to Ukraine nor the sanctions it has imposed against Russia since the war began.
As highlighted by CNN, during the interview, Putin noted that the "political position" of the current administration is important, saying, "I believe that the position of the current administration is extremely harmful and erroneous."
After hearing Putin's thoughts you might be wondering what the White House thinks about the Russian leaders perspective on the 2024 elections and the answer is not much at all. According to Politico White House spokesperson Andrew Bates told the press: "Mr. Putin should stay out of America’s elections."
Overall, the interview was full of Putin's typical war propaganda. Still, there was another interesting tidbit that came out of Vladimir Putin's interview with Pavel Zarubin: the Russian President's thoughts on being interviewed by the American Tucker Carlson, known for his ultra-far-right political views.
Regarding the interview, Putin said he was pretty disappointed by Tucker's softball questions and that he'd hoped for a more interesting interview, "I honestly thought he would be aggressive and ask tough questions."
Putin expanded on his deception about the Carlson interview, "I wasn't only ready for that, I wanted that because it would give me the opportunity to give tough answers back. To be frank, I didn't fully enjoy that interview."
