The Epstein List revealed: royalty, politicians, and one name you'd never expect
It’s quite possible the world will never know the full details of the crimes and sins of Jeffrey Epstein. However, some light has been shed on the dark network of trafficking and abuse ran by the disgraced New York financier.
According to British newspaper The Independent, 40 court documents listing over 100 names have been ordered to be declassified during the defamation case of Jeffrey Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell, his associate.

Back in 2015, Maxwell had accused Giuffre of being a liar when she accused her and Jeffrey Epstein of abusing her when she was a minor.
In January 2024, the first batch of names in the documents pertaining to the case were made public, mentioning important power players in the world of science, politics, and entertainment.
However, it’s important to remember that the fact someone is mentioned in the legal documents doesn’t mean they are accused of having participated in any crime.
The Guardian highlights that Prince Andrew, the brother of King Charles III, is mentioned for hanging out with Epstein and Maxwell and forcing himself on a woman.
In the past, Giuffre sued Prince Andrew for assaulting her when she was 17 in the Southern District of New York. The case reached an out-of-court settlement in February 2022.
Former US President Bill Clinton is also named, although the BBC remarks that he’s not directly accused of taking part in any illegality. Guiffre stated that she met Clinton in Epstein’s island.
Meanwhile, The Independent highlights the disclosed declarations of Epstein victim Johanna Sjoberg, who claims that Epstein himself told her that Bill Clinton “likes them young” when it comes to women. The former US President is mentioned over 50 times in the released documents.
Former US Vice President Al Gore, the presidential candidate for the Democrat Party in 2000, is also listed in the court documents, though the context remains unclear, per NPR.
Clinton is not the only former US President mentioned in the declassified court filings. Donald Trump is also mentioned, though in passing.
Al Jazeera writes that Sjoberg talked about an incident where she, Giuffre, Epstein and a few others had an emergency landing in Atlantic City in 2001 and stayed over in one of Trump’s casinos.
Former Epstein lawyer Alan Dershowitz also pops up occasionally in the files. The Independent reports that the Harvard Law Professor is one of the powerful men that Epstein forced young women to sleep with.
Dershowitz has gone on record to state that he wants every piece of document to be released to the public, to show he’s innocent of any allegations relating to his late client.
French model scout Jean-Luc Brunel is also mentioned in the disclosed papers, writes The Independent. In the past, Giuffre accused Brunel of having abused her.

Brunel died in February 2022, apparently taking his own life while waiting trial for abusing and trafficking minors in France, in circumstances quite similar to Epstein’s.
According to The Guardian, Sjoberg also stated she saw Michael Jackson in Epstein’s residence in Palm Beach, Florida. However, she denied having any sort of improper contact with the pop musician.
Jackson is hardly the only celebrity to have mingled with Jeffrey Epstein. Sjoberg claims she also met stage magician David Copperfield in Epstein’s home in Palm Beach and he was on friendly terms with Epstein.
Surprisingly, the court documents show that British physicist Stephen Hawking is named by Jeffrey Epstein in a 2015 e-mail.
According to Al-Jazeera, Epstein demanded Maxwell to “issue a reward” to any of Guiffre’s friends and relatives to disprove her allegations, including allegations against Stephen Hawking.
The Independent highlights that other famous names such as actor Kevin Spacey, model Naomi Campbell, and filmmaker George Lucas appear on the released documents but without any proof of wrongdoing.
