The King of Monikers? From Crooked Hillary to Sleepy Joe, Trump's hilarious nicknames

Donald Trump may be a bumbling buffoon at times but there is one thing he does really well—nicknames. The former president might be the king of thinking up monikers that make you giggle and maybe it's because he’s always understood the power of branding.

This special power to nickname his foes has allowed Trump to battle opponents through the highs and lows of every awkward thing he’s done since joining the political scene. A properly timed Meatball Ron or a Sleepy Joe might be what’s kept Trump relevant. 

With that said Trump has come up with some truly terrible yet brilliant nicknames. So here’s a list of his very best. Buckle up, and don’t drink anything, you might end up spitting it all over your computer. 

Who doesn’t remember when this nickname caught on? Most of the country didn’t like Hillary Clinton but nearly half of the U.S. was willing to hold their roses and vote for her if it kept Trump out of office. Unfortunately for Hillary, the name was pretty darn spot on. 

Steve Bannon was the driving force behind the former president’s rise according to BBC News, and their eventual falling out produced one of the funniest nicknames Trump ever thought up—even the left loved it when they heard Trump call Bannon ‘Sloppy Steve’. 

One of the funniest moments in American political history had to be the first time Trump publicly called Jeb Bush 'Low Energy Jeb.’ The name was just so perfect and it clearly got under Jeb’s skin, he called it “the weirdest thing in the world,” NBC News reported.

Lyin’ Ted Cruz was another great nickname that came out of the 2016 primary and it felt like it fit Cruz to the tee. Cruz eventually became ‘Beautiful Ted’ and ‘Texas Ted’ after he endorsed the former president and spent years supporting him according to Politico. 

Trump has always been good at choosing devastating nicknames for his opponents and this moniker for Ron DeSantis was no different. Unfortunately, Trump has noted on Truth Social he would never use this nickname, calling it “inappropriate” according to Politico. 

However, Ron DeSanctimonious is a different matter and the former president has used this laughably bad moniker for months to refer to his main rival in the 2024 GOP Presidential Nomination race. No one really gets it but it sure has stuck around in the public’s mind. 

It seems like Trump spent months listing off all the different things he thought applied to the man investigating him. Leakin’ James Comey, Slippery James Comey, and Slimeball James Comey were nicknames that absolutely made you laugh at least once. 

This is a tough one since it was absolutely not okay and you can’t help but wonder what Trump was thinking to himself when he called Elizabeth Warren this nickname. Warren had falsely claimed she had Native American Heritage according to ABC News, which is why Trump did it—and it turned into a major controversy.

Former Senate Minority Leader now Majority Leader Chuck Schumer never escaped the wrath of the former president while he was in the Senate and Trump often probably referred to him as ‘Cryin’ Chuck‘ because of how he’d call Trump out on his behavior.

This was one of those nicknames you couldn’t help but laugh at because the former president’s explanation was just so absurd. Trump once awkwardly said during a rally: “He's got the smallest, thinnest neck I've ever seen,” according to RealClearPolitics.

Maybe the greatest nickname the former president ever thought up was his ‘Sleepy Joe’ moniker for Joe Biden. Sure ‘Slow Joe’ and ‘Basement Biden’ were good, but even the most diehard Trump haters must have cracked a smile when they heard ‘Sleepy Joe’.

This was another good in the same vein as Crooked Hillary because it kind of perfectly described the demeanor of Nancy Pelosi. Sure she’s an amazing politician that’s had a very important impact on American politics, but she does kinda look a little nervous…

This was a tough one for Stormy Daniels and we’re just going to move right along from the obvious attempt by Trump to get back at the woman who was ruining his life at the time he graced the American media with this nickname. 

Before Trump was fawning over the letters from his best friend in North Korea, he was using his powers of branding to make Kim Jong Un look like a fool on the international stage. That's how 'Little Rocket Man' got such a diminutive nickname from the former president.
