These are the most (and least) common birthdays
We all have a birthday, that’s a fact. However, most people you know probably celebrate their birthdays on different dates. Have you ever wondered which are the most and least common birthdays? Let’s find out!
According to USA Today, the least common birthday is February 29. That is not a surprise, given that it’s only in the calendar once every four years!
Overall, Reader’s Digest highlights that February is the least common month to be born. Is it because it is also the shortest month? That’s a possibility.
However, Reader’s Digest points out most of the rarest birthdays are well-known holidays such as Christmas or national celebrations.
Data from the Center for Disease Control reveals that the least common days to born into in the United States are December 25, January 1, December 24 and July 4.
These dates are probably unpopular to schedule cesarean operations or inducing birth. Nobody wants their kid’s birthday to be overshadowed, right?
So, if these are the least common, which days are the most common?
Well, USA Today reports that the most common birthday in the United States is September 9.
Some celebrities born on September 9 include Adam Sandler, Hugh Grant, and Michael Bublé.
However, in other countries it is slightly different. In the UK, the most common birthday as of 2023 is on September 27, as The Daily Mail writes.
If your birthday is on September 27, then you share it with Avril Lavigne, Gwyneth Paltrow or Meat Loaf.
Regardless of the country, the most frequent month to be born into is September. Most of the top ten common birthdays recorded in the US and the UK fall in this month.
In fact, as Reader’s Digest remarks, most people tend to be born in July, August, September, or October, with August topping the list. Why is this?
The Daily Mail suggests that parents tend to plan out their children's birthdays to take into consideration the school year.
However, the most common theory is that these children tend to be conceived during the winter months, particularly around the holidays.
After all, aren’t the children the biggest gifts of all?
