Tragedy in Ukraine: Putin bombs children's hospital in Kyiv
On Monday morning, July 8, there was an air raid warning across the whole of Ukraine, as the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper reported. Putin attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. What was shocking was that a children's hospital was also bombed.
According to the Ukrainian military administration, Putin had his military attack the Ukrainian capital with several waves of missiles.
Kinzhal cruise missiles and hypersonic missiles were fired by the Russian military, the Ukrainian Air Force said.
In the center of Kyiv, there were more than 20 explosions, probably caused by anti-aircraft missiles, as the Frankfurter Rundschau reports with reference to the German Press Agency (dpa).
According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, 20 people were killed and 50 others were injured in the attacks.
According to the BBC, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that other cities were attacked in addition to Kyiv, with over 40 rockets of various types being fired. Residential buildings, infrastructure and a children's hospital were hit, said Zelensky.
Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said that this attack on the Ukrainian capital was one of the worst since the beginning of the war.
It is not yet clear how many victims the attack on the children's hospital claimed. However, Zelensky said that people were buried under the rubble.
On X (formerly Twitter), Zelensky posted a video from the children's hospital showing the destruction and traces of blood on the floor.

According to Zelensky, the children's hospital is one of the most important in Ukraine and Europe. The Ukrainian president also wrote that everyone is currently helping to clear the rubble, doctors as well as residents.
