Elon Musk's 'Roman salute' at Trump's inauguration was truly disturbing
Elon Musk appeared overexcited and clearly emotional during Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony for the US presidency.
The world's richest man will join the president's team, taking charge of cutting public spending with the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
For this reason, and because he was instrumental in the Republican victory, Elon Musk took the stage in front of the 20,000 people who packed the Capital One Arena in Washington.
Visibly happy, Elon Musk spoke of conquering other planets, colonizing Mars saying, "I mean, can you imagine how awesome it will be to have American astronauts plant the flag on another planet for the first time? How inspiring would that be," to the delight of an enthusiastic crowd.
However, the crowd didn't quite know how to react when Elon Musk decided to do the Nazi salute, not once, but twice.
First, facing the public, Tesla's CEO beat his heart and raised his arm, just like the Nazis did in the 1930s and 1940s.
Seconds later and without interruption, he turned around and gave the same salute to the giant American flag that presided over the back of the stage.
In an attempt to alleviate the situation, Donald Trump's followers on social media have rushed to sweeten Elon Musk's gesture, claiming that it was the 'Roman Salute' and not the Nazi salute.
The problem with supporting this theory is that this is not the first time that Elon Musk has shown his closeness to Nazi theories and preachings, sharing them on his massively followed X account (Twitter), although he later ends up deleting many of these messages.
Just a few weeks ago, Elon Musk changed his name on Twitter to 'Kekius Maximus', which was taken as a reference to 'Kek', a neo-Nazi symbol whose symbol is a frog, like the one he himself used as an avatar. Too many coincidences to believe it was simply a Roman salute.
