More than 10,000 athletes

No fewer than 10,500 men and women will take part in the Olympic competitions, which will be held in 32 different disciplines.

206 nations represented

206 nations will be represented during the Games. Russian and Belarusian athletes will participate under a neutral banner and will not compete in team sports.

 

329 competitions in 32 sports

The Olympic Games feature 329 competitions in 32 different sports, from athletics to volleyball and swimming to golf.

Two new sports

Compared to the last edition, which took place in Tokyo in 2021, two new sports were added this year: breakdancing and sport climbing,

The competitions will take place at 35 locations, mostly in or around Paris, but also spread across several regions of France.

 

A budget of 9 billion euros

The International Olympics Committee (IOC) has estimated the total budget for the 2024 Olympic Games at 9 billion euros. This includes, among other things, the rent for the Stade de France, the construction of the Olympic Village and the payment of security forces.

1 billion television viewers

According to the French broadcaster "RTL", one billion viewers from all over the world could watch the competitions on television.

15 million visitors expected

Paris is expected to welcome 15 million visitors during the Olympics, according to the city's tourism office.

 

2 million visitors from abroad

Among them, 2 million visitors from abroad are expected. The USA and the United Kingdom will be the most represented nationalities in the French capital.

100,000 paying spectators at the opening ceremony

100,000 people are expected to attend the opening ceremony on the lower banks of the Seine. And many more are expected to be present on the upper banks.

7.6 million tickets sold

Of the 10 million tickets offered for sale for the Olympic Games, 7.6 were sold, reports Vanity Fair.

Up to 2,700 euros per ticket

The magazine also reports that ticket prices vary greatly, ranging from 90 euros for the cheapest tickets up to 2,700 euros!

 

13 million meals (made in France)

13 million meals (including snacks) will be provided to the athletes during the Olympic competition. 80% of the food must be produced in France.

The metro ticket costs 4 euros

You read that right! The subway ticket will rise to 4 euros per ticket at the start of the Games, which is almost double the current price. Vanity Fair recalls that, in contrast, Beijing (2008) and London (2012) offered public transport free of charge to spectators.

30,000 volunteers
