Donald Trump may have a very loyal base of supporters, but does he actually care about the people who could put him back into office? One comment at a campaign rally in Nevada may have revealed that he really doesn't care about his supporters.

An outdoor event in the scorching heat

The former president was in Las Vegas on June 9th for a campaign rally with some of his most loyal supporters in the state but the real kicker of the event was that it was outdoors, and very hot.

Temperatures were expected to be hot

Temperatures were expected to be scorching and Mother Nature didn’t disappoint on the day of the rally. News organizations were telling people to stay home but the warnings weren't enough to keep some people away.

Thousands came out to see Trump speak

Thousands of Trump supporters came out to hear the former president speak but many had been warned about the heat by his campaign, a fact that Trump noted on stage and said only resulted in 20,000 people showing up.

The Trump campaign prepared for a hot day

The Associated Press reported that the Trump campaign did hire extra medics because of the expected heat. It also had lots of water bottles and fans on site, plus it allowed the rally’s attendees to bring in umbrellas for shade.

The former president made a really bad joke

Trump didn’t make it through his speech without taking the time to comment on the heat but what may have seemed like a witty joke in his mind turned the whole internet ablaze for its callous display of inhumanity towards his supporters.

“I don't care about you. I just want your vote”

"By the way, isn't the breeze nice? Do you feel the breeze? I don't want anybody going on me. We need every voter. I don't care about you. I just want your vote. I don't care," Trump joked as his audience laughed according to Newsweek.

Trump said the press would twist his remarks

Trump immediately went on to say that the “press will take that, and they'll say, 'He said a horrible thing.'" The former president was right. The press and many others exploded with fury when his remark started making the rounds online.

A mask off moment for the former president

Democrat Harry Sisson may have had the best commentary on Trump’s remark, writing that it was a real ‘mask off’ moment for the former president.

"Trump doesn’t care about you at all"

“You hear that, America? Trump doesn’t care about you at all. He just wants you to vote for him. Disgraceful,” Sission wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Trump even made the heat all about him

Despite the heat, the rally continued and the former president did tell those in the crowd that if they felt unwell the campaign had people on hand who could help. But Trump also found a way to make the heat issue all about him.

"It's 110, but it doesn't feel it to me, right?”

"It's 110, but it doesn't feel it to me, right? So, we'll stay out here for a little while. If anybody gets tired, you'll let me know. And if anybody goes down, if you start going down, we have people they'll pick you up right away. They'll throw water," Trump said.

“I'm up here sweating like a dog”

“You know they were so worried. Everybody was so worried yesterday about you," Trump continued, adding that those who were worried about the crowd never mentioned him. “I'm up here sweating like a dog,” the former president said.

Not the only awkward moment if the rally

Trump’s remarks about his supporters weren’t the only awkward moment of the rally. The Hill reported on the former president’s anger over a teleprompter that wasn’t working. It was a theme the news outlet said he returned to throughout his speech.

Angry over his lack of teleprompters

“I got no teleprompters, and I haven’t from the beginning,” Trump explained to the crowd. “I pay all this money to teleprompter people. And I’d say 20 percent of the time they don’t work, they don’t work. The thing’s waving around.”

Trump said he wouldn’t pay his contractors

At one point in his speech, the former president stopped to tell the crowd he didn’t plan on paying for the teleprompter services because they didn’t work, complaining that the media would say he takes advantage of his contractors.

A speech filled with anti-immigrant sentiment

The Independent also reported that Trump spent much of his speech insulting America’s immigrant population. He described newcomers as criminals, mentally unstable, or just people who were not productive.

Trump isn’t happy with Biden’s new policy

Trump also called Joe Biden’s newly announced border security measure aimed at reducing the level of individuals crossing the U.S. through the southern border that the president made via executive order “bull****”, and told his supporters Biden’s policy would increase illegal immigration.
