In search of the culprit

As the investigation progresses, authorities are tightening the net around the suspect accused of murdering Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthCare. The case, which has captured global attention, took a shocking turn following the discovery of incriminating evidence in the suspect's backpack.

The Thousand Eyes of Manhattan

Firing several shots at another person in the middle of Manhattan carries its risks, including being spotted by thousands of security cameras in the area, and that is what happened to the person responsible for the crime.

The killer's backpack

The New York Police Department has now located the suspect's backpack, which was found in Central Park, where the individual fled after the shooting, according to TMZ.

Monopoly money and a windbreaker

The surprising thing is not the discovery of the backpack itself, but what the authorities found inside: Monopoly money (the well-known board game from Hasbro) and a Tommy Hilfiger jacket.

What did he want the fake money for?

What does this mean? So far, absolutely nothing. However, there is no doubt that, despite having no apparent relation to the events, the discovery will provide important information to the New York Police Department.

A very specific backpack

And beyond the fake bills and the jacket, TMZ has also reported that the backpack is the 'Everyday Backpack' model, from the brand 'Peak Design', used by professional photographers.

Reducing the number of suspects

Authorities appear to be tightening their investigation around the suspect, although they have yet to disclose the individual's identity.

Unidentified (for now)

New York Mayor Eric Adams said: "We don’t want to release that now. If you do, you are basically giving a tip to the person we are seeking and we do not want to give him an upper hand at all," he said in a statement reported by the New York Post.

The conviction of a mayor

"Let him continue to believe he can hide behind the mask. We revealed his face. We’re going to reveal who he is and we’re going to bring him to justice," confirmed the mayor.

CEO Wanted

While waiting for further news on the case, UnitedHealthCare has already launched a formal job offer on various employment portals, to find a replacement for Brian Thompson.
