Mexican products in danger: exports to the US seriously affected by Trump tariffs
Mexico is the United States' main economic partner. And the opposite is also true. But this relationship could be affected by the threat of tariffs made by Trump, who wants to impose a 25% tax on products imported from the Latin American country.
According to Infobae, trade between Mexico and the United States reached record levels in 2023. Nearly 80% of Mexican exports are destined for the US market, according to data from the Ministry of Economy.

In addition to finished vehicles, Mexico also exports parts. Engines, transmissions and other components manufactured in Mexico supply U.S. automakers.
Mexico is a key supplier of technology products, including televisions and smartphones. It also produces computer equipment and electronic components for manufacturing. Mexico exported $1 billion worth of phones and other wireless devices, or 2.78% of exports.
Mexico exports essential goods for the construction and manufacturing industries in the United States, highlighting Mexico's ability to create precision parts that meet rigorous standards of quality and durability.
Avocados, tomatoes and berries are among the top agricultural exports from Mexico to the United States. Bakery and confectionery products, such as cakes and cookies, represent another important segment. Finally, alcoholic beverages, such as tequila and beer, generate significant revenue for bilateral trade.
According to the BBC, furniture made in Mexico contributes significantly to the economy, with exports exceeding $9.4 billion. Additionally, key home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines also form a vital part of the nation's export list.
Finally, the medical sector also stands out in Mexican exports. With 1.1 billion dollars in sales of medical instruments and devices, the sector represented 2.95% of the total. Mexico supplies hospitals and health centers in the United States with equipment ranging from surgical instruments to diagnostic devices.
