Where to send the bill?

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani claims that the Donald Trump presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee owes over 2 million US dollars over unpaid legal fees.

Justice isn't exactly cheap

According to The New York Post, the legal fees are for the cases Giuliani filed in different jurisdictions, trying to challenge the 2020 presidential election.

Trump's legal hatchetman

Giuliani is considered to have played a central role in claiming there were irregularities during the 2020 presidential election, leading to judicial effort for Trump in several US states.

See you in court!

The former New York mayor revealed the debt during a courtroom hearing on his bankruptcy filing in February 2024.

148 million in liabilities

Bloomberg highlights that Giuliani filed for bankruptcy in December 2023 after a Georgia court demanded he pay 148 million US dollars in liabilities for falsely accusing electoral employees of fraud.

A gentlemen's agreement?

“Once I took over, it was my understanding that I would be paid by the campaign for my legal work and my expenses to be paid,” Giuliani stated during the bankruptcy hearing, as quoted by the New York Post.

Not exactly spare change

According to Bloomberg, Giuliani listed owning 10.6 million in assets, far from the 148 million US dollars the former New York mayor has to pay.

Crime doesn't always pay

“When we submitted the invoice for payment, they just paid the expenses. Not all but most. They never paid the legal fees”, Giuliani argued, as quoted by The Independent. Still, it’s far from the amount demanded by the Georgia court.

Tell it to the judge

Since then, Reuters reports that Giuliani has requested the judge to rule in his favor or grant him a new trial to avoid paying the 148 million US dollars for defamation to two Georgia electoral employees.

America's (former) mayor

Giuliani’s current legal problems, although not as many as Donald Trump's, show just how far he has fallen since the days he was called America’s mayor.

The harder they fall

Giuliani, who once was seen as a potential presidential candidate in the 2000s, was a close advisor and personal lawyer to Donald Trump during the time of the New York mogul at the White House.

Guliani's decadence cotinues on...

Will Rudy Giuliani be able to redeem himself somehow? Or, as seen in this picture from 'The Masked Singer', will he just continue his descent into a strange and sad figure, a stark contrast from the man who led New York City during 9/11?
