10 countries that 'do the deed' most often: did your nation make the list?
When it comes to "intimate relations", everyone seems to think that everyone else is more sexually active than they are. Have you ever wondered if we were to look at the data by countries if one country "gets down" far more often than the others? If so, which country do you think it is?
Fortunately for you, we have searched the internet high and low for this very important data and have compiled a list of the countries where people "get lucky" most often.
Durex conducted a very comprehensive study on the subject in 2005, and Statista also has some interesting information on global funky business from 2014. Click on to read about the countries where people are getting the most action and find out if you are lucky enough to live in one of them!
According to the Durex study on sexual relations around the world, 71% of Mexicans reported they got down and dirty at least once a week. That means around three-quarters of the Mexican population gets it on weekly.
According to Statista's 2014 report on global sexual activity, Mexicans reported an average of 123 sexual encounters in a year, so it seems as the years have gone by since Durex's 2005 study, Mexicans have increased the frequency that they make love.
Coming in 9th, we have Spain; so much for those stereotypes about Latin lovers! Even though Spain doesn't come in at the top of the list, the Spanish still report making a decent amount of "whoopie", with 72% of Spaniards claiming they do the deed at least once weekly.
However, the previous data is from 2005, and you might wonder if that information is still valid. Well, in 2019, the Spanish company Geeksme revealed that statistics showed that Spaniards had sex on average 92 times a year or 1.7 times a week, which is not too shabby at all.
Perhaps it is those cold, long winters that keep the Swiss so busy under the covers! According to the Durex study in Switzerland, 72% of adults report making the beast with two backs at least once a week!
Statistics data from 2014 indicates that as the years have gone by, the Swiss like to get it on just as much as the Mexicans, with an average of 123 sexual encounters a year, which is quite impressive.
Malaysia doesn't exactly have a reputation as a "romantic" country. However, that doesn't mean that Malaysians aren't getting down to some funny business on the regular! According to Durex, 74% of adults in the country report getting it on at least once a week.
More recent data on Malaysians' sex life published in 2019 in the newspaper MalayMail says that statistics show most adults in the country get up to some hanky panky six to eight times a month per information from the Asia-Pacific Sexual Health and Overall Wellness study.
In Poland, people seem to really value their sexual health and make a point to carve out a niche for some "quality time" with their partner on the regular. 76% of Polish adults claim to shake the sheets at least once a week.
Even more impressive is the 2014 data from Statista, where the Poles claimed to jump each other's bones 143 times a year! That is nearly three times a week! Is it another case of the long, cold winters bringing people together??
Now it should come as no surprise that Italy made the top ten countries that show the most physical love to each other! Italians are known to be passionate people, and with all that delicious food and fabulous wine, it is hardly surprising that 76% of Italians report they have steamy bedroom encounters at least once a week.
Interestingly, a more recent study, shared by Italy Magazine in 2013, claims that Italians like to be intimate 108 times a year, which means they tend to "do it" every three days. Fun fact: according to a survey conducted by 'JustEat.it', eight out of ten respondents said they preferred to make love on the kitchen counter or table over the bed!
The Chinese are known to be hard workers, and it seems like they work hard in the privacy of their bedrooms, too!! According to data from Durex, 78% of Chinese adults claim to have amorous relationships at least once a week.
However, the Chinese may be suffering from quantity over quality. A study on the sexual activity of Chinese men published in the Chinese newspaper The Global Times found that while Chinese men did the deed more frequently than Westerners do on average, 36% said they were unsatisfied with the encounters they experienced.
Freezing temperatures and Russian vodka might be the secret to an active love life! In Russia, 80% of adults told Durex they got intimate at least once a week, earning the country a spot among the top three most sexually active countries in the world!
More recent data from Statista in 2014 found that Russians claimed to perform amorous congress 143 times a year or nearly three times a week. However, we could not find more recent data on Russian love lives because we can't help but wonder if the war in Ukraine has put a damper on things...
Brazil is known for its beautiful beaches, teeny-tiny swimsuits, Samba, Carnival, and Caipirinhas, so it is no surprise that it is the second most sexually active country in the world! 82% of Brazilian adults claim to engage in hanky panky at least once a week.
In addition, according to 2014 information from Statista, Brazilians do the bedroom rodeo 145 times a year, which is three times more often than the country that sees the least bedroom action: Japan. Durex's survey found that Brazilian men also have the highest number of partners of all the countries surveyed, with an average of 27 partners!
Finally, we have the winner! Greece is the most sexually active country in the world! According to Durex's survey, 87% of Greeks report "taking a roll in the hay" at least once weekly.
According to Statista's 2014 data, the Greeks get freaky between the sheets an impressive 164 times a year! That works out to an average of 3.1 rounds of funky business a week. Greece is stunningly beautiful, so perhaps all the romantic scenery is the key to their success?
