A trashy comment: that time Laura Trump insulted Kamala Harris

Donald Trump's daughter-in-law seems to have the same problem as her father-in-law: sticking her foot in her mouth. Laura Trump, the RNC Co-Chair verbally attacked Kamala Harris not long ago, and her comments were brutal.

While being interviewed by Sean Hannity on his Fox News show, Laura Trump mocked Vice President Harris, who is now the Democratic Party’s presumptive 2024 Presidential Nominee, as a product the party is pushing according to The Hill. 

“It’s been incredible to see the way they have tried to prop up Kamala Harris and really sell her as some sort of — this amazing political figure… It reminds me of there was this bag that a very famous designer designed,” Laura Trump said. 

“This is several years ago, and it literally was a trash bag, but they sold this thing for like $2,000 thinking that people would actually buy it,” Laura Trump continued. “It’s a similar situation with Kamala Harris.”

The former president’s daughter-in-law was likely referring to luxury brand Balenciaga’s 2022 ‘Trash Pouch’ bag according to The Independent, which reported the bag debuted in the winter of that year and retailed for a stunning $1,790 dollars.

The trash pouch was inspired by the trash bag according to the British news outlet. The creative director of Balenciaga, known by the mononym Demna, explained to Women’s Wear Daily in 2022 why they made the bag. 

“I couldn’t miss an opportunity to make the most expensive trash bag in the world,” said Demna, “because who doesn’t love a fashion scandal?” Little did the creative director know that their work would create a political scandal in 2024. 

Despite Laura Trump’s disrespectful comparison, she did go on to provide more of her insights into the character of Vice President Harris, calling her one of the most radical members of the Senate when she served in the legislative branch of government. 

“We have to speak that loudly and clearly to the American people,” Laura Trump said according to the Independent, adding that she believed the Vice president could even be more dangerous than Joe Biden as President.

“We know Joe Biden was an empty vessel, and they just kind of moved him around and manipulated him as necessary… We have to remind people that we actually have a candidate who has been proven to do great things for this country,” Laura Trump added. 

She went on to state that the candidate who has proven to do great things for the nation was her father-in-law, Donald Trump, and said electing the Vice President would “be an utter disaster,” adding it would be the GOP’s mission to remind voters of that fact in the remaining days before the election.
